What a great kickoff to summer this weekend was!! I hope everyone’s Memorial Day Weekend was filled of grilling, boating, and a whole lot of red, white, and blue. (Because mine sure was!)
On Saturday, we started the weekend with some time on the water in Saugatuck, Michigan. I wish I would have thought to take more pictures around the downtown, especially because it was so adorable and so lively. Known for having big boats come in to dock there, it was especially neat to see just how huge some of these yachts can get! After exploring the city, walking along the marina, and enjoying our ride around the lake, we came on to land again and decided it was time to grab some food. I wasn’t particularly hungry, so I just got a side salad with grilled chicken (and a vinaigrette on the side) and some sweet potato fries. It was all so good and hit the spot. Later, we enjoyed some ice cream at a place closer to home, where I got a brownie batter. (I need to stop writing about food – I’m getting hungry again!!)
On Monday, my mom, brother and I decided to go to the parade downtown, and I’m so happy we did! After my grandfathers passing, hearing the 21 gun salute again was so incredibly moving. We listened to speeches from veterans and their families, which brought some tears to my eyes. After all of those festivities, we went out for lunch and for some frozen yogurt. We truly couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful weekend or for a better day.
Wearing: Banana Republic Shorts (old, similar pair here and here), Banana Republic Sweater (old, similar pair here), Converse Chuck Taylor Allstars, Calvin Klein No-Show Liner Socks, Cat Eye Sunglasses (not available online, similar pairs here, here, and here) Natural Life Half Boho Bandeau (linked in black, worn in red. can be purchased in other colors from stores like Francesca’s.)
With all of that said and done, remember to say thank you to veterans not just on Memorial Day or Veterans Day. So many payed the ultimate price, so that we can enjoy the lives that we are blessed to live.
I’m so excited to be back and cranking out better content for y’all! Stay tuned for much more to come.
