4th of July Beauty Ideas To Add Some Sparkle To Your Outfit

Happy 4th of July Eve!!!

The fourth has always been one of my favorite holidays and I’m lucky that this year one of my closest friends is driving  four hours to spend just a couple of days with me. I’ve (finally) figured out what I’m going to wear for the actual day and at the lake, but more posts will come on that tomorrow or later this week as a recap. If you still are at a loss for what to wear make sure you check out this post of mine! In this previous post, I talked about cute outfits and accessories for the holiday, but what about beauty products?? After realizing I hadn’t touched on this, I decided to post some ideas for adding some patriotism to your look.

  1. Nails: As you can tell by the image above, I painted my own finger nails. I feel like so many teenage girls share the skill of being able to paint their fingers ever so nicely. Well not this teenage girl. I’m wearing an old red shade, but it looks to be so so similar to Essie’s Really Red color. What you can’t tell from the image above is that I have a super cute pedicure currently! It’s a metallic blue from Essie called Barbados Blue. At first, I was a little unsure on if I liked it, especially because I wanted to be a little patriotic, but after spending the day at the beach, I decided that I really did love the color. Adding pops of red, white, and blue on your nails is a fun and subtle way to show your love for the USA. Some other cute patriotic colors include Butler Please, Bikini So Teeny, and Fifth Avenue. And if you really want to add some sparkle, try their Luxeefects in the color Set In Stones. It’ll match the sparklers and fireworks!
  2. Lips: I have two different types of lips I’ll be sporting this fourth. One is a colored lip balm and the other is a matte lipstick. Because I live on Lake Michigan, I will be spending a portion of my day at the beach. While there, I won’t be wearing too much makeup, but I still want a fun color on my lip. I’m going to be wearing Maybelline’s Baby Lips in Winter Flush. This was a limited edition lip balm from a while back, so I don’t believe it’s available anymore. However, a similar red tinted lip balm can be found from Maybelline’s newer Lip Balm Crayon in Sassy Scarlet or GlamGlow’s Wet Lip Balm Tints. When I’m not spending time at the lake, I will be wearing NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella. I like using this lip pencil when I don’t feel like applying liner and lipstick. This shade of red is a little darker than normal, but that will make it perfect for later at night on the fourth. Some similar matte lip products from NARS can be found here in a bright “Jungle Red” and here in Vesuvio.
  3. Face: I won’t be wearing a lot of face makeup, because I’ll be at the beach for most of the day. For the time I won’t be there however, I’ll be applying some bronzer to add some additional tan to my face. I especially love Laura Gellers Baked Body Frosting. The shade I use in the summer is Tahitian Glow.If you’re looking for something to give you a bit of a tan and a glow, I highly recommend this. I’ve been using it for quite some time now, and use it almost every time I wear makeup – especially in the summertime! Aside from that, my skin is clear right now, so I won’t need to be piling on concealer, foundation, or powder. Because my skin has some color from the sun, I won’t be using any blush either! Letting your skin breathe in the summer is so important, and it does wonders!! My skin has cleared up since coming home for summer and I love it!
  4. Eyes: I swear I’m gonna sound like a broken record, but again I don’t think I’ll be wearing too much eye makeup. If I wear any mascara it has to be waterproof. I’m currently searching for a new one, because I’m not too happy with the one I currently have. For the life of me I can’t remember the brand right now. I’m thinking about investing in Too Faced Better Than Sex Waterproof one. (And the normal one too!!) If you have a waterproof mascara you love, let me know about in the comments or contact me personally – I’d love to get recommendations!

And remember to wear your sunscreen this 4th of July!! That should be the most important beauty product in your routine this summertime. Hope you all have a happy, fun, and safe 4th of July!
